If you have licensed Cognos Enterprise, see the third-party documentation provided on the Cognos PowerPlay CDs for the complete details on installing Cognos PowerPlay. To read the installation instructions, run the setup.exe file on the CD and then select the option to read the installation instructions from the Setup menu.

This appendix provides a brief overview of the necessary configuration information to use Cognos PowerPlay with PeopleSoft Cube Manager. If you are using Cognos PowerPlay as a target for PeopleSoft Cube Manager, please note these installation considerations.

To make Author mode available in the PowerPlay User Edition, select a custom installation and then change the default setting to import this feature.

For the enterprise server installation, you must install the enterprise server on the same machine as PeopleSoft Cube Manager, which currently supports only the Windows platform. The enterprise server serves as a holding tank for Cognos PowerPlay cubes.

You must install the Cognos PowerPlay Transformation Windows Server CD on the same machine as the enterprise server. This allows PeopleSoft Cube Manager to automatically register the Cognos PowerPlay cubes that it builds to the Cognos PowerPlay server.

Note. If you choose not to install the Cognos PowerPlay Transformation Windows Server CD on the same machine as the enterprise server, you can still build Cognos PowerPlay cubes using PeopleSoft Cube Manager and the Transformer, which can be installed from the User subdirectory on the Enterprise Server CD. However, you must manually register and move the cubes to the enterprise server.
