This appendix provides an overview of workflow queries and discusses how to define a workflow query.
Workflow queries—also called role queries—are queries that PeopleSoft Workflow uses as part of automated business processes to determine which users should receive work items.
Because these queries are run by the system rather than by users, the PeopleSoft application does not run the same prequery security checks. In particular, the application does not check which access groups the user running a workflow query has access to— because the user is a workflow agent. (For this reason, you may not want to allow all users to create workflow queries.)
Use the Query Properties page to define a workflow query.
To define a workflow query:
From a Query Manager page, select the Properties link.
The Query Properties page appears.
Select the query type of Role, and click OK.
Note. PeopleSoft recommends that you use a naming convention to distinguish the different types of queries:
The Role query option refers to the fact that PeopleSoft name its role queries with names that begin with [ROLE].
