This chapter provides an overview of Enterprise Portal pagelets and discusses how to get started with PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal.
Enterprise Portal pagelets include portal pagelets that provide at-a-glance access to essential data from your system. These pagelets supplement PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal features that provide the underlying data.
The Enterprise Portal pagelets discussed in this book can be classified into one of the following pagelet types:
Homepage pagelets.
Homepage pagelets are primarily selected and laid out by the user and appear on the user's homepage.
Users can personalize their portal homepages by displaying the pagelets that provide the information they want. Standard PeopleSoft role-based security ensures that users can access only the pagelets appropriate to their roles.
Users add pagelets to their homepages clicking selecting the Content link from the menu bar on the homepage. They can configure the layout of the pagelets by clicking the Layout link from the menu bar on the homepage.
Template pagelets.
Template pagelets are configured by a portal administrator and appear in the menu frame alongside a destination target page.
