Performing Rapid Calculation

The Rapid Calculation feature lets administrators quickly calculate an employees' net pay from their gross pay and review the results without navigating away from the current page, significantly speeding up the calculation.

To define the components where Rapid Calc option is enabled.

The Rapid Calculation feature enables Global Payroll administrators to correct individual payroll calculation errors and instantly recalculate employee pay from any data entry or modification page (for example, GP Core, Country Extensions, Customer pages, or other HCM products like Job (HR)). A Rapid Calc button on each page triggers the payroll process. This functionality is implemented using Page Field Configuration (PFC) to avoid needing changes to Country Extensions, other products, or customer environments.

Note: If both component lockdown and rapid calculation features are enabled for a component, the component lockdown feature will take priority. For details on component lockdown, see Understanding HCM Lockdown Framework.

Use the Rapid Calculation Setup page (GP_RCL_COMP_DEFN) to define the components where Rapid Calc option is enabled.

Navigation:

Set up HCM > Product Related > Global Payroll & Absence Mgmt > System Settings > Rapid Calculation Setup

Rapid Calc Setup page

Field or Control

Description

Component Name

Select the Components you want to enable the Rapid Calculation feature. You may only select Components with Employee ID and Employee Record Number as the primary key.

Market

Select the required payroll.

Description

Displays the component description.

Enable Rapid Calculation

Select the checkbox if you want to enable Rapid Calculation feature for the selected component. If this checkbox is selected, Rapid Calc button is displayed on the selected component's page.

This checkbox is disabled by default.

Push Button Location

Select the required value from the drop-down list. The value selected in this field determines the placement of Rapid Calc pushbutton on the corresponding page of the selected component.

Available options are:

  • Bottom Left

  • Bottom Right

  • Top Right

Status

Status values are assigned upon invokation of the Event Mapping function (selecting Save). Available values are:

  • Active

  • Inactive

  • Failed

In this scenario, rapid calculation configuration process is illustrated using One Time (Positive Input) page.

To setup rapid calculation in One Time (Positive Input) page, perform the following:

  1. Navigate to Rapid Calculation Setup page.

  2. Select the component name as GP_PI_MNL_ERNDED.

  3. Select Enable Rapid Calculation checkbox.

  4. Select the Push Button Location.

    Here, you can find the Rapid Calculation button at the Bottom Right of the page. You can drag and drop the button anywhere on the screen.

  6. Click the Rapid Calculation button. This displays the Rapid Calculation modal window as shown:

    Click View Status and Results link to access Payee Status page. For details on viewing payee status, see Payee Status Page.

  7. Click Calculate button. When the calculation has completed, you will automatically be transferred to the Payee Status Page, where you can review the new results.
